It is very difficult to live by rules. Even rules that you make for yourself. No, you do not seek to overstep them but when that happens, you should be prepared to face either an incredible amount of guilt or unbound exaltation.

Human beings learn from their mistakes. And sometimes, if you are lucky or smart enough, from those committed by fellow people. Nonetheless, these errs coerce you to make rules so that you do not cross the line again, do not falter again, do not end up with a bruised heart, soul and ego again, stand up for yourself each time, and do not commit the folly again that had once left you shredded.

No, but it is not temptation that makes you break rules. No pull of gravity or attraction can ever leave you too weak to protect the rules you abide by. Written in bold and tattooed to your heart, your rules only try to keep you safe. But then, you forget. It is your heart, beyond the superficial etches that you make, that cannot stop beating the way it always did.

You will remain vulnerable, you will fall in love again, you will trust in friends again, be careless again and you will take that wild plunge yet again. Because it is difficult to live your life by rules. You will break rules since you are human and not because you are immature, naive or evil. Because you are not a mere piece of flesh, bones and skull. Because you have a heart that pumps blood so you continue to live, but most importantly so you can feel, make mistakes, stumble, hurt yourself bad and still continue to love. Because love knows no rules and neither do you.
